The New Inn nestles in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales village of Clapham. This is a true 18th century village Inn run with the warmth and experience of the Mannion family. The old and the new have been lovingly refurbished to retain a true Yorkshire village Inn run by Yorkshire folk. Excellent meals served in both bars and the restaurant in front of roaring log fires plus traditional Yorkshire ale to sample.
The wonderful Dales village of Clapham is set in a geological wonderland of limestone, nestling beneath Ingleborough once thought to be the highest mountain in England.
The beautiful old village straggles on either side of Clapham beck one bay linked to the other by three bridges. The church is at the top, the New Inn at the bottom.
Ingleborough Hall, once the home of the Farrer family is now an outdoor centre the grounds of which now form a nature trail. This trail leads alongside the lake following the beck to Ingleborough show cave which issues water from Fell Beck coming off the moor via Gaping Gill. Beyond, the path gets rougher and a sense of impending drama ensues as the limestone dale narrows and great walls of rock soar as you enter Trow Gill. Climbing the scree brings one onto the moor and Gaping Gill, a slot down which Fell Beck plunges twice the height of Niagara at 365ft. The New Inn is rated as 3 Crown Commended by the English Tourist Board . Children and well behaved pets are welcomed at the inn and the languages spoken by the staff include French. All rooms are ensuite with television, tea and coffee makers and a telephone. We are able to offer three 4 Poster bedrooms, one Half Tester and antique beds. We are sorry but we do not have special facilities for disabled guests. For your interest we have listed in the table below some heritage sites, scenic areas and other places of note which are within a short distance of the hotel.
